31 Days of Appreciation Complete

January 31st, 2018

This is the 31st day of appreciation that I have shared with each of you. I hope that reading the blog posts over this month has encouraged you to find things to appreciate in you day to day life, help you to realize just how many things there are to be grateful for or at least by reading about the things I appreciate I do wish that it brightened your day and filled you with a sense of gratitude. I feel that it would be strange to just close this month out here so I want to share a random list in no particular order of things that I appreciate. You can always find something to be thankful for so focus on the positive, change the negative and work hard for the future you want.

What I Appreciate:

The Military And Law Enforcement. George Orwell once said, “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” I pray often for all those who serve, for their safety, courage, their families and indescribable appreciate for what they do each and every day. Thank you!

Freedom. To dream bigger, to believe we are capable of more and knowing that we have  inalienable rights that most countries do not reap the benefit of.

Dogs. Well, all animals really, I am obsessed.

Sunny Days With Fresh Air. I love being outside and the sun and crisp breeze makes me never want to go inside again.

Living Right Where I Am. I have mountains within two miles of my house and hiking and running trails within one mile. I’m in a small town so I do a lot of things outdoors with my husband and our dogs.

Businesses. It is a true privilege to be in business. I love coming up with new ideas for improvements and how to help to community and customers more efficiently. I find true joy to work with employees because we are a team and we build each other up to become better, learn more and do everything with excellence.

Fitness. It is not a chore, it’s a pleasure that keeps me healthy and makes me better than I was yesterday.

Knowledge. There is never a time in my life that I am not reading a book. I love to learn whether it is a skill, how to use essential oils, inspirational books that are autobiographies, history books that focus on specific battles and what was going on at that time or even books on decorating ideas for Christmas.

Speaking Of Christmas……Christmas. The one holiday that I wait on each year with more enthusiasm than 5 year old on Christmas Eve. I am always looking forward to the decorations, being with family and friends, cooking wonderful meals, the cold weather, snuggly blankets and a good movie, I mean the list can go on forever. I like it so much that I may or may not have already bought a few presents for relatives for this coming Christmas. Yikes!

A Wonderful Immune System. Even through a surgery, loosing my Dad, Grandfather and my Dog all within 4 months I had incredible health this last year and one month. No colds, flus or sicknesses. The one day I started to feel off, after my husband had his bought with the flu I went in the kitchen, made a crazy healthy and spicy soup, took a nap and felt tip-top within hours.

Cooking. No, I am not a chef but I enjoy creating in the kitchen. This year I have tried more new foods than I have in over five years. Some of the things I never tried again while others have become a staple in my life. I feel peaceful when I cook, I have never followed recipes but I just make things that look and sound good to me, the real challenge is making sure they actually taste nice at the end, thankfully that is the case more often than not.

Plans And Goals. Short term and long term, I have ideas of where I want to be, what I want to do and how I am going to get there. I can feel accomplished when I check off a short term plan, but I am motivated when I look at my long term goals.

Coffee. I have talked about it before, Black Rifle Coffee Company makes incredible brews. The real bonus to buy ground coffee from them is that I get to support a company that loves to support the things I find important. They support the military and have many veterans working for the company. Their views that are part of the core of the company are views that I share as well, because of our common values that cup of coffee first things in the morning tastes just a little bit better everyday.

Whether you are having a hard day, week, month or year look for the things in life that make you smile. What is one simple pleasure in life that you appreciate? A positive outlook on life does not mean you ignore the hard things, it means you do not allow yourself to become a victim or let self pity be a part of your life while going through that difficult times. We are all conquerors we were never meant to be contained, defined, labeled or fit a mold. Be yourself and know that you are full of greatness, you are able to appreciate small things in life everyday, you do not let obstacles stop you, they only give you motivation to find the solution to overcome anything that gets in your way. What is your dream? What are your goals? What are the small things you will be able to appreciate along the way when the hard days hit you and make you feel like quitting? Appreciation resets your brain. This month I have struggled with immense sorrow over loss but the small and even simple things that bring me joy add up. This month of blogging has truly helped me up my mood and inspire me to continue because life is full of great things, one of those things is YOU!
