Moxie Monday: November’s 30 Days of Thankfulness

Hello again. I am so excited for this season, Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is coming up and then to Christmas! I love this time of year and thoroughly enjoy all the things that go along with it. There are 30 days in this fine month of November and what a fantastic time to be thankful so if you haven’t guessed already, I am going to post 30 things that I and truly grateful for. I do believe that when you are continuously thankful it makes it difficult to be an unhappy person. So here are 30 things that I am thankful for right now.

  1.  Colder weather. (It was 6 degrees F the other night and winter is on it’s way.)
  2. My dogs. (Nike is full of energy 24/7 and Tango is willing to sleep a minimum 21 hours a day.)
  3. Christmas decorations. (Call me crazy but my Christmas decorations are up already simply because they bring me so much joy.)
  4. Trying new food. (I have been on a crazy cooking and baking kick. I made a chicken  stir fry and stuffed bell peppers for dinners this week. I baked some banana bread muffins without nuts and a loaf with nut for my husband. Feel free to weigh in on what you think is better, banana bread with or without the nuts.)
  5. Reading great books. (At this moment I am reading two books. Mommie Dearest by Christina Crawford and an inspiring and incredible story Medal of Honor by M. Sgt. Roy P. Benavides.
  6. Firewood burning in our stove. (We cut several cords of wood each year and burn it in the cold weather. Nothing heats you up quite like a good crackling fire.)
  7. Thanksgiving is right around the corner. (I love cooking for the big day. I have made a tradition of one cayenne pepper and orange turkey and one apple rosemary turkey.)
  8. Crafts. (When this time of year comes around our life slows down a little and I fill my spare time with some crafts I have been wanting to do all year.)
  9. Harry Potter. (Call me a nerd, but I love watching all of the Harry Potter movies in the winter. Don’t get me wrong, I watch them throughout the year as well.)
  10. Sweaters and scarves. (I love to wear me sweaters and scarves and the weather has changed just enough to pull them out of the closet.)
  11. Coffee. (I think I mention Black Rifle Coffee every other blog post but it tastes so much better when it’s cold outside.)
  12. Baths. (I don’t take a bath often but I like them after a hard day of work in the cold.)
  13. Candles. (Burning candles makes me feel warm, cozy and relaxed.)
  14. Hunting season. (My husband and I did not get drawn for large game but I am excited to hunt chucker and fix them up back at home.)
  15. A New Year is coming. (I love each new year, everything is a fresh start. New calendars, new year of business, new year of goals.)
  16. I am thankful for all of the trips my husband and I have been on. (We have an electronic picture frame that plays a lot of our photos from out trips and it makes us reminisce about each place we have been to.)
  17. Elementary. (My husband and I are rematching the show Elementary because it has been too long and a new season came out. If you are looking for something good to watch, it is a Sherlock Holmes show and one of our favorites.)
  18. Canon camera. (My husband bought me a camera for a Christmas and I have loved taking pictures with it. It makes me so happy. I was able to get some good shots on our trip to Alaska with his parents.)
  19. Gnomes. (This might seem simple but I special ordered some hand made Christmas gnomes from Sweden and each time I put them out I am absolutely crazy about them.)
  20. Downsizing. (I don’t really do a spring cleaning, I am a big fan of a winter downsizing and donating. I go through different rooms in the house and try to simplify our life.)
  21. The Landing Zone team at our store. (I truly love each employee that works with us. It is so great to catch up with them and work together on projects. They each give me a hard time as the rumor had spread about my dogs, Harry Potter and Christmas obsessions.)
  22. Rental house. (After weeks of work on my rental house, it is almost complete. I have a few touched left to do but I am so happy  and thankful for all the upgrades on it.)
  23. Meditation. (For the last two months I have been meditating each day. It has helped me to decompress and refocus on living in the moment. Sometimes, it is so helpful to take the time to take a few deep breaths.)
  24. My Husband. (Though he is truly number one on my thankful list, I love spending time with him running roads in our jeep, going to the shooting range, traveling and just hanging out at home watching a show or movie.)
  25. My health. (I am happy and thankful to say that I have been extremely healthy this year. I never take my health for granted but it is a joy to be in great health.)
  26. Family. (I love spending time with our families. We travel to California to visit a large chunk of family and then the rest live in town and I have one brother and sister in law in Florida. Thanks to FaceTime we can catch up no matter how far the distance is between us.)
  27. A new bed. (We purchased a new bed a little while back and I is life changing. We don’t wake up sore from our old sunk in bed and instead we awake refreshed. That makes me feel extremely thankful.)
  28. A crazy flowy ruffly shirt. (I purchased a new shirt last month that is a little different from my usual style. It is a floral prints, open sleeve/shoulder top, full of ruffles and it brings joy.)
  29. Small town living. (I am incredibly thankful for where I live. I am in a small town that feels just like Mayberry from the Andy Griffith Show. People leave their vehicles unlocked and running while shopping for groceries. Kids walk to school without any issues. Everyone waves to each other as they drive past one another. You know people by what car they drive. Life is simple and such a blessing out here.)
  30. I am crazy thankful for living a happy and healthy life. (Having been in a bad relationship and being incredibly unhealthy I value those things tremendously and never live a day without being thankful for them.)

I love having a post about thankfulness. It sets your mind on a new track and gives you a good and positive outlook on your life. My list has some incredibly simple things and some very specific detailed items that cause my thankful state of mind. You can always find something to be thankful for, big or small even if you feel that things are horrible in your life you can find a few things that are outstanding. Try thinking of three things you are thankful for each morning and let me know in one week how your attitude has changed and what your outlooks on life is. It will improve drastically. Have a wonderful week, and don’t forget to be thankful!
